About
Hey there! I’m Camille. I’m so glad you found Spot You For Life!
I started this blog not only to share my experiences in fitness, nutrition, and education but to support each other in all things life. Truly, as people, we need to spot each other every now and again.
A bit about me…
I’ve always had an interest in health and fitness. But I truly fell in love with the human body and all things health-related after taking a health class at The University of Georgia. This class set me on a path to learn as much as I could about the practice of health and exercise science.
After graduating from the State University College at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness, I moved to Atlanta, GA, and enrolled in an Exercise Science program at Georgia State University. I was grateful to be selected as a graduate assistant to work in The Fitness Lab because it was there that I gained the practical experience needed to help people perform better. I learned firsthand that human performance is directly related to training principles, nutrition, genetics, lifestyle choices, and most importantly, will.
I became a certified Health/Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM/HFI) and presented at various fitness expos and events. I went on to teach undergraduate students at the State University College at Buffalo. Yes. I willingly moved back to Buffalo, NY from sunny Georgia weather to work as a personal trainer and teach at BSC. It was for a good reason. In between all my schooling and working, I met the love of my life in a very random place in downtown Buffalo. I learned that evening that he was a former professional baseball player with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. That was all I needed to hear because one of my favorite things to do is play a simple game of catch. So, there we were, in Mid March, outside in the freezing cold, snowy weather, playing catch for two hours.
I never felt the cold. I couldn’t tell you if anyone walked by. I just knew I was in love.
So, I did what any girl would do in my position. I moved everything I owned in Atlanta back to my hometown and married my favorite baseball player!
As much as I loved teaching my undergraduate students, there was still a feeling that my own formal education wasn’t done. I wasn’t done learning.
Eight months after I graduated with a Master’s degree in Exercise Science, and not too long after accepting an adjunct position at BSC, I enrolled in a graduate program at Niagara University. I earned a Master’s degree in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and set out to start a career in public education.
After becoming a full-time teacher, I never lost my love for fitness and nutrition, rather I just incorporated them into my lifestyle.
In between school, work, marriage, and all things life, things really ramped up when my two sons were born. They are my favorite clients! They try all my “weird” recipes, appreciate healthy living, work out with me regularly and are active in baseball, hockey, and basketball.
I’m thankful to have all three of my guys spot me for life!
Spot You For Life
I started SYFL for a number of reasons. I am constantly seeking to know more and I like to discuss what I know with people. It is through discussions and personal interactions that I personally have grown or benefited. I believe we all have to spot each other from time to time and help each other out.
On any given day, I’m engaged in some type of conversation about women’s health, workouts, nutrition, children, education, and more. I just decided to expand the conversation.
I am hoping to grow my network of people to create an authentic, organic experience through my blog. I say life is fluid. Let’s learn together.
Warmly,
Camille
